Second North East fair opens
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) Minister for Small Scale and Agro-Rural Industries Mahavir Prasad today inaugurated the seven-day-long second North East Expo 2006 here.
It is an ideal opportunity for the industrial sector of the North East Region (NER) for having a better access to the global market for their products, Mr Prasad said.
The NE products are getting growing popularity not only within the country but from abroad in view of the wide range of colours and traditional products, he said.
The UPA Government is here to render a helping hand to our brothers and sisters of the NER, to make them more economically self dependent. This would also help them in generating local employments in far flung areas,'' Mr Prasad said.
The NE Expo, being organised by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), had sixty participants display their products before the domestic as well as the international clientals.
Earlier, Mr Prasad lit the traditional lamp to throw the fair open.
