Sarathkuamr quits RS seat
Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) A week after resigning from the primary membership of the DMK, Kollywood actor R Sarathkumar today resigned his Rajya Sabha seat.
In a letter to DMK President M Karunanidhi hours before joining the ruling AIADMK, the actor said he was resigning both as the DMK member and also as the Rajya Sabha member.
Reacting to Mr Sarathkumar joining the AIADMK, Mr Karunanidhi told reporters that the actor had sent a fresh letter this morning saying he was resigning both from the DMK and also as the Rajya Sabha Member.
Mr Sarathkumar had joined the DMK in 1998 and unsuccessfully contested from Tirunelveli constituency in the 1998 Lok Sabha polls. In 2001, the DMK nominated him to the Rajya Sabha and his term was to end in July next year.
Mr Sarathkumar had on April ten resigned from the primary membership of the DMK, alleging that he was insulted and humiliated by the family members close to Mr Karunanidhi.
