BAGHDAD, Apr 17: Saddam Hussein and seven co-accused returned to court today to face charges of crimes against humanity, a Reuters witness said.

The chief judge rejected defence accusations that he was biased.

Saddam and his co-defendants are charged with the killing of 148 Shi'ite men and teenagers after an attempt on his life in the town of Dujail in 1982.

He could soon face another trial on charges of genocide against the Kurds in the late 1980s.
