Power situation normal today, no loadshedding during peak hrs
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) After a shortage of power in many areas of Delhi in the past few days due to failure of some of the generating units, the power situation in the capital improved today with the supply during the peak hours meeting the total demand, an official at the Transco power company said.
The supply during the peak period today was 2641 MW, which meets the total demand of power in Delhi during the period, the Transco official said.
Out of the total requirement of power by Delhi, 750-800 MW is generated in the capital itself while 650 MW comes from the Badarpur thermal power plant and 1950 from the Northern grid.
While the peak demand today was 2641 MW, a maximum load shedding of 265 MW was done.
The last few days have seen a short-fall of 250 MW of supply in power in the capital during the peak period.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Opposition in the Delhi assembly Jagdish Mukhi, reacting to the power shortage in the past few days, said,''it is just the start of Summer season and the DISCOMS are showing a deficiency of 250 MW to 400 MW during the peak load.
At this rate, the deficiency will cross the 500 MW mark in the coming days.'' Charging power companies of failing to meet electricity demands of Delhiites, Mr Mukhi said,''the DISCOMS have not taken concrete steps for proper distribution of electricity in Delhi.'' UNI AR SB RAI2102
