Manipur to start e-governance project
Imphal, Apr 17 (UNI) The Manipur government is trying to network all government offices in the state to provide better governance with the assistance of the Information Technology department.
Officials said here today that the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is trying to connect the government offices. State Wide Area Network (WAN) could be implemented later.
The state secretariat and DC offices had been already networked, the officials added.
There would be video conferencing facilities in the government offices in Imphal, officials further said.
There are communication bottlenecks due to bad road conditions, which hamper official transactions. Data transfer would be done quickly through the new network.
People will have access to data which are of public importance, officials added.
All the heads of the departments would have access to such system. About 33 Community Information Centres (CIC) had been created in the state. Several new CIC centres would come up in the state, the offials added.
