HC summons MCD Deputy Commissioner for filing false affidavit

New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today summoned MCD Deputy Commissioner (East Zone) M K Sharma and three engineers of the civic body for allegedly filing a false affidavit in the court regarding demolitions of some illegal structures in Gandhi Nagar area on East Delhi.

A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain directed Sharma, the superintending Engineer, two Executive Engineers and three Station House Officers (SHOs) for the area to be present in the court on April 25 to explain the reasons of filing the false affidavit in the court.

Filing an appication, Amicus Curiae Ashok Arora submitted that the MCD officials had given the wrong statement on the demolitions of some illegal structures in Gandhi Nagar and Krishna Nagar area.

The court had appointed Counsel Arora to supervise the demolitions of the unauthorised structures in East Delhi.
