Gaur seeks more assistance for Bhopal gas victims
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Minister for Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Babu Lal Gaur today requested Union Minister for HRD Arjun Singh for an additional assistance of Rs 60 crore for construction of Bhopal Gas Tragedy memorial.
The Centre has already provided Rs 10 crore towards construction of the memorial.
Mr Gaur said 20 wards that had recently been declared as gas-affected should be provided with all medical facilities and urged the Centre to release more funds for the same.
Victims of the world's most devastating industrial tragedy being treated at the Jawahar Lal Nehru cancer hospital too should be provided with financial help, the minister added.
Mr Singh assured of all possible assistance in the matter.
Mr Gaur also met Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath and requested him to help set up a Specail Economic Zone in the state.
