Four killed, nine injured in lorry-van collision

Kancheepuram, Apr 17 (UNI) Four people, including a woman were killed and nine others injured in a collision between a stone-laden lorry and a van at Sriperumbudur on the Chenani-Bangalore Highway today.

Police said the victims included three people travelling in the lorry, including the driver. The other two were labourers, who were travelling atop the vehicle. The woman was travelling in the van.

Nine others in the van, who sustained injuries, were admitted to Sriperumbudur Government hospital, where the condition of four was stated to be serious.

In all 15 people were travelling in the van.

While the lorry was proceeding to Poonamallee from Sriperumbudur, the van was on its way to Mapedu village in the neighbouring Tiruvallur district when the mishap occurred. The occupants of the van were on their way to finalise a marriage alliance.
