Four boys killed in lighting

Kancheepuram, Apr 17 (UNI) Four teen-aged boys were killed when they were struck by lightning in two villages in this district of Tamil Nadu this evening.

Police said Bhaskar (15) and Karthikeyan (15) were playing cricket at a village near Gooduvancheri when they were struck dead by lightning.

In another incident, six teen-aged boys were fishing in Palar river in Anoor village near Thirukazhikundram when they were struck by lightning. While two of them were struck dead, four who suffered burns, were admitted to the Government hospital here.

The city and the neighbouring districts received summer showers.

With this, the total number of people struck dead by lightning had gone upto nine in just two days. Yesterday, five people were killed in lightning in at Ayankunjalam, Koovadu, Raghuanthapuram, Baasar and Murugaipaadi villages in Villupuram district.
