Fee Fixation: K'taka HC makes provisional arrangement

Bangalore, Apr 17 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today as a 'provisional arrangement' permitted the managements of private medical colleges to collect fees at the same rates as for the year 2005-2006 for the current year (2006-2007), pending final disposal of writ petitions challenging the rates of fees fixed by the Committee for Fees Fixation.

The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice K L Manjunath, said the managements could collect the balance of fees from the students if the final rates were in excess of the amounts collected and similarly refund the excess in case the final rates were less than what was collected now. The arrangement was also for PG courses.

They adjourned the hearing of the petitions to June 5.
