Court extends prosecutor's remand till April 28
Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) A special CBI court today extended till April 28 the judicial custody of its prosecutor R P Dwivedi, who was arrested on corruption charges by a CBI team from Delhi on March 14.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today moved an application seeking extention of his custody, as investigation is yet to be completed and statements of some witnesses are yet to be recorded in the case.
Additional Sessions Judge Ms M R Bhatkar then extended his judicial custody till April 28.
According to the prosecution, Dwivedi used to allegedly contact accused persons in cases under the pretext of a CBI inquiry and collected money for 'helping them' in the case.
It was also reported that Dwivedi had received Rs two lakh from a person, for the help he rendered in enabling his release on bail.
Besides, bonds worth Rs 18.65 lakh (UTI, IDBI, Flexi bonds and Kisan Vikas Patras) were seized during a search at his house recently.
