Cong scoffs at Opp failure to find candidate against Sonia
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) The Congress today had a dig at the Opposition parties, saying that though they were always ready to attack or launch a campaign against party President Sonia Gandhi at the slightest opportunity, had failed to find a candidate against her for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha elections.
"On the one hand, the political opponents of Mrs Sonia Gandhi point an accusing finger at her, or mount a villification campaign or launch an attack on her at the drop of hat, on the other hand, when democracy presents them an opportunity to oppose her there is none avaialable to oppose her in the parliamentary election," Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
"Political parties who are ready to shout at her, defame her or attack her at the drop of hat, could not find a candidate against her in Rae Bareli," Mr Singhvi said. "The big names that appeared(as a candidate against her)turned out to be a fictional stories." Calling it as Sonia's "aandhi"(hurricane) in Rae Bareli, Mr Singhvi challeged the Opposition to "demonstrate if it has the courage of conviction that it(the result)is not a foregone conclusion." "The Opposition makes a lot of noise, but has no substance," Mr Singhvi told reporters.
