Cheques worth Rs 4 crore subsidy distributed
Chandigarh, Apr 17 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Programme Implementation Oscar Fernandes here today distributed the cheques worth Rs four crore as the subsidy to 225 beneficiaries who had set up village industrial units in rural areas of Punjab under a self-employment scheme.
The subsidy cheque distribution function was organised by the Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board through which the said central scheme was being implemented.
Presiding over the function, Mr Fernandes said that holding of such functions gives a fillip and hope self earning amongst the rural unemployed and also motivate the prospective borrowers.
Speaking on the occasion Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Shamsher Singh Dullo said that the state government had fulfilled all commitments made with the people of Punjab during election.
Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board chairman Charanjit Singh Walia saidon the occasion that the long pending subsidy claims pertaining to 2002-03 had got clearance from the Centre's Khadi Village and Industries Corporation (KVIC).
He said the pending claims up to the year 2004-05 would also be settled during the current financial year.
In an endeavor to help the entrepreneurs in marketing the products manufactured by them, the Punjab Khadi Board would organise exhibitions in the state during the current financial year, Mr Walia said.
