New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today urged the Centre to immediately send adequate medical support to the state to combat the present malaria menace due to which 50 people have already lost their lives.

Talking to newsmen here, party General Secretary Sarbananda Sonowal said the Asom government did not take adequate measures to combat the malaria threat.

He said it is strange that thousands of poor tea garden workers and farmers are suffering from malaria but the State Government did not think it proper to inform the Centre.

Mr Sonowal said he had already communicated this to the Union Minister of State Health and the Health Secretary P K Hota as well and asked them to provide speedy medical relief to the people.

To a question on who will form the next government in the state, Mr Sonowal expressed confidence that their alliance will secure more than 65 seats in the State assembly and will form the Government.
