BSP candidate in Bhatpara dies
Barrackpore, Apr 17(UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Sefali Sarkar (53), contesting from the Bhatpara constituency in North 24 Parganas, died of a heart attack at her residence today in Babanpur village.
Despite her protracted illness, Mrs Sarkar had submitted her nomination paper on April 6 to contest on a BSP ticket.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer and District Magistrate of North 24 Parganas said they had been informed about Mrs Sarkar's death.
''A report to the Election Commission will be sent,'' District Magistrate Manoj Pant said, adding election would be countermanded by the order of the EC.
