BJP misleading on temple issue: Chinmayanand

Jaunpur, Apr 17: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand today charged his party with misleading the nation on the vexed Ram temple issue.

''The top bosses of the BJP are not unanimous on the issue...the party is victim of its inner conflicts,'' he said talking to newspersons here.

Chinmayanand claimed while one BJP leader requests the Muslims to take initiative for resolution of the matter, another dwells upon the dialogue process.

''When BJP was in power, it never talked about passing a law for the temple construction. Now, when the party is out of power, it is making promises on such a law if voted to power again,'' he charged.

The Swami claimed due to the ''double standards'' of the BJP, the Hindu saints and organisations associated with the temple movement were drifting away from the party.

Further, he stated that expelled BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti was getting the support of several parties and leaders.

''She has the support of Madan Lal Khurana in Delhi, Om Prakash Chautala in Haryana, Prakash Singh Badal in Punjab, Sone Lal Patel in Uttar Pradesh, Sukhlal Kushwaha in Madhya Pradesh among others,'' the former union minister disclosed.
