AIMF not to field candidate against Sonia
Allahabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The All India Minorities Front (AIMF) has decided not to field a candidate against Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who is seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha from the Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency in May eight bypoll.
Talking to newspersons here the AIMF national president S M Asif appealed to the electorate to vote for a secular candidate who will honestly raise their issues in Parliament.
The AIMF volunteers will campaign in every village of Rae Bareli to ensure that no 'anti-minority' candidate gets elected in the bypoll, he said.
Mr Asif said the AIMF also spurned the suggestion by some minority leaders of forming a Muslim political party and added that the Constitution provided ample scope for protecting minority rights in the country, if implemented in letter and spirit.
