250 shops sealed on 13th day, 4490 sealed till date

New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) Even as the Union Urban Development Ministry's plea in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the MCD not to undertake sealing operations in the capital during the next six months await a response from the court, sealing activity by the MCD continued for the 13th day with 250 shops being put to seal today.

The apex court today fixed April 28 as the next date for hearing the application filed by the Union Urban Development Ministry.

Meanwhile, sealing of shops in residential areas continued with the maximum number of 50 shops being sealed in civil lines, 43 in Shahadara (South), 36 in Karol Bagh, 33 in the West Zone, 20 in Rohini, 15 in Najafgarh, 14 each in central zone and Sadar.

At the same time, the MCD desealed 160 shops - 54 in central zone, 65 in city, 22 in civil lines, 10 in Sadar, 08 in Najafgarh, and 1 in Shahdara (South).

With today's sealing, a total of 4490 shops in the residential areas have been sealed since the operation began on March 29.

Of them, the maximum number of 865 shops have been sealed in the Karol Bagh area, followed by 582 in Civil lines, 489 in Rohini, 464 in Central zone, 441 in Shahdara (South), 384 in Najafgarh and 342 in West zone and 322 in the South zone.

A total of 708 shops have been de-sealed till date.
