19 lakh tonne wheat arrive in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, Apr 17 (UNI) With the procurement of wheat picking up in Haryana, 19.10 lakh tonnes of the crop have already arrived in the state mandis so far.
The six government procurement agencies have purchased 16.71 lakh tonnes of wheat out of the total arrival, an official spokesman said today.
Hafed had procured 6.18 lakh tonnes, followed by Food and Supplies Department by 3.72 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 1.83 lakh tonnes, CONFED 1.26 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1.49 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India 2.21 lakh tonnes.
He said a sum of Rs 1,837 crore had been arranged for making payment to the farmers within 72 hours of the purchase of their produce. As many as 352 mandis had been set up for the smooth procurement of wheat.
