Transfers in Baramulla district poll-related

Srinagar, Apr 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government today clarified that the officers recently transferred from the Baramulla district originally belonged from the area where the by-elections would be held on April 24.

An official spokesman today today the officials were transferred from the district as per the election rules.

Bypolls will be held in three Assembly constituencies of Pattan, Sangrama and Rafiabad in the Baramulla district.

As per rules, all those officers belonging to the district where the election or bypoll were to be held have to be removed from the area, he added.

''In this connection, the recent transfer orders, both in police and civil administration, are temporary in nature. After completion of the election process, these officers will report back to their original places of posting from where they have been transferred,'' the spokesman said.

The state administration had recently transferred some officials, including Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Subhan Lone, from the Baramulla district.
