PTSL eyes big share in entertainment pie
Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) The Rs 25,000-crore entertainment and media industry is expected to touch a whopping Rs 85,000-crore mark by 2010, with the films alone contributing about Rs 15,000 crore, according to Pyramid Saimira Theatre Limited (PSTL) officials.
Hoping to capture a major share of the growing pie, PTSL,a theatre chain company, has hit upon a novel idea to achieve this goal, PSTL Chairman V Natarajan, Managing Director P S Swaminathan and Director N Narayanan told reporters here last night The company will purchase 250 theatres across South India in tier II places and convert them into single screen multiplex, which is a family entertainment centre comprising a digital theatre, food court, kids creche, networked supermarket and many family entertainment options.
The company planned to take this concept further with theatres set to become a place for video-conferencing and conducting interviews.
Elaborating, they said, ''after BPO revolution, several unemployed youths secured jobs and for attending the initial round of interviews , a candidate from a non-metro area had to travel all the way to metros.
''Now, to save time and energy, candidates can go to their nearest theatre and attend the interviews from there itself through video conferencing,'' he added.
