Patkar's health deteriorating, strike enters day 19

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Paktar's health further deteriorated today as her hunger strike entered the 19th day.

Her blood sugar level had fallen and her blood pressure too was not normal, an NBA spokesperson said.

She is getting weaker by the day and in fact her health is in pretty bad shape, the spokesperson added.

Ms Patkar was shifted out of the ICU at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here this morning.

''Hospital authorities today shifted her out of the ICU and kept her in a private room on the 6th floor of the ,'' she added.

They are persuading her to take honey or coconut water but she is determined and is continuing with her hunger strike, she added.

Meanwhile, the NBA has called for an en masse hunger strike tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, some 50 activists and supporters of the NBA had been detained when they tried to petition Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to stop construction at the dame site.

However, they were released later.
