Opposition creating fear psychosis : CPI(M)
Kolkata, Apr 16 (UNI) Alleging that the Opposition was making a whispering campaign to whip up a fear psychosis among the voters, CPI(M) West Bengal state Secretary Biman Bose today appealed to the people to vote without fear in tomorrow's first phase polling in Purlia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts.
" We have reports that the Opposition Trinamool Congress, Congress, BJP and Jharkhand Party have launched a whispering campaign in the name of the Maoists so that the people do not participate in the poll process. They are doing this because they have got isolated from the people, " he told reporters.
Mr Bose alleged that such attempts were being made in five or six constituencies to contain the traditionally large turnout of voters. There are altogether 45 constituencies across the three districts.
The CPI(M) leader said the party had asked its workers to assist voters in exercising their franchise in some areas, specially those affected by Maoist activities.
Referring to massive deployment of central para military force, he also appealed to the people not to be scared and exercise their rights to franchise. " We have experience that rural people, specially women, get scared at the sight of central forces, " he said.
