MPP internal conflict intesifies

Imphal, Apr 16 (UNI) Internal crisis within the Manipur People's Party (MPP) has intensified with family members of the two groups joining the fight.

After a controversial presidential election, O Borajao was elected but former president O Joy refused to recognise him as the new president.

For the last two months, both the groups had been fighting over control of the office, often resulting in fisticuffs.

Earlier O Joy's wife and sons had joined the fight and were detained by police.

O Subhash, a son of the MLA, was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by Judicial Magistrate first class in Imphal yesterday while all others were released.

Meanwhile, O Joy has claimed that his two sons, who were released, were beaten up in the police custody.

He demanded immediate action against police.
