"Left Front to retain power," claims Jyoti Basu

Barrackpore, Apr 16 (UNI) Former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu today asserted that people belonging to the upper strata of the society were gradually leaning towards the Left Front because of its strong policy and ideology.

Addressing an election rally in Sodpur near here, the veteran Polit Bureau member said the Left Front government had existed in the state for the past 29 years because of its ''pro-people'' policy.

Mr Basu claimed that the Front would retain power and form the seventh government and said nobody wanted either the BJP-Trinamool Congress combine or the Congress because these were the parties sans any ideology.
