Jaya represents landed class; alleges Karunanidhi
Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) Joining issue with AIADMK Supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on the availability of wastelands in the State, DMK President M Karunanidhi today described her as a ''representative of the landed class''.
Her objection to the DMK's poll promise of distribution of wastelands to the landless poor was a proof for this,'' he said and alleged that she was against implementation of land reforms.
Asserting that the State had about 50 lakh acres of wastelands as mentioned i+n the budget, Mr Karunanidhi said she was now trying to reject and hide these facts.
On Ms Jayalalithaa's posture that the DMK would take the wastelands from farmers and provide two acres each to landless labourers, Mr Karunanidhi said even if the 50 lakh wastelands were with the farmers, it would be secured from them, made cultivable and distributed equally among them.
''I regret that she is not even able to understand this basic thing'', he charged.
