'Gujarat Bandh' over SSP imbroglio evokes mixed-response
Ahmedabad, Apr 16 (UNI) 'Gujarat Bandh,' called by the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), in protest against the current impasse hindering early completion of the Sardar Sarovar Project, evoked a mixed response in the State.
The bandh had good impact at the public places like railway stations and bus depots, while the shops, cinema houses, petrol pumps and small vendors continued their activities with normalcy, the GPCC said.
However, the major private and public offices and banks remained closed as today was Sunday.
However, the trains, buses of state transport, city services and private operators were plying on road with normal frequencies in major parts of the State.
Meanwhile, reports from several places said that the bandh had mixed response and its impact was not much visible on day-to-day life as it was called on a 'non-working day.' Majority of the cinema houses all over the State have withdrawn screening of movies starring Amir Khan, especially his recent release 'Rang De Basanti', to avoid any untoward incident.
