Fire in Courts Complex as lightning strikes
Amritsar, Apr 16 (UNI) A record room in a building in the district Court's Complex here caught fire after lightning struck it this afternoon.
According to offical sources here, files pertaining to certain revenue records were destroyed in the fire. However, timely arrival of fire tenders brought the flames under control, which could have devastated the building, as seized explosives and ammunition along with firearms were stored in a room adjoining the record room.
The Court's Complex also houses the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) besides other senior civil, police and judicial officals. There was no loss of life as it being a Sunday the offices were closed.
