Australia's Martyn doubtful for ODI series v B'desh

Written by: Staff

CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh, Apr 16 (Reuters) Australia's middle-order batsman Damien Martyn is a doubt for the upcoming one-day international series against Bangladesh due to injury.

Martyn was replaced by left-handed batsman Philip Jaques today for the second and final test against Bangladesh from the squad that beat the hosts by three wickets in Fatullah last week.

''The strain, which Martyn sustained in his elbow during his long innings in the third test against South Africa, has worsened after the first test,'' said Philip Pope, media manager for Australia.

''He will be under observation to see whether he can play in the coming one-day series.'' Martyn, who scored 4,372 runs in 66 tests, made only 11 runs in two innings in the first test against Bangladesh.
