Wife takes on husband in May 3 polling

Pondicherry, Apr 15 (UNI) A couple is contesting against each other at Yanam constituency in the Assembly elections to be held on May 3.

Mrs Malladi Udayalakshmi, wife of Malladi Krishna Rao, the Congress candidate had filed her nomination as an independent candidate. Contrary to expectations that she might withdraw her papers today, Mrs Lakshmi preferred to be in the fray.

In the 2001 elections also when Mr Rao contested as an independent from the constituency, Mrs Lakshmi had contested as an independent and secured 60 votes. Mr Rao, also an independent candidate, won the elections then.
