New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The World Economic Forum's regional session on East Asia will be held in Tokyo, for the first time, this year.

WEF, in partnership with Japan Association of Corporate Executives, Keizai Doyukai, yesterday announced that the event will be held on 15-16 June.

The event will bring together at least 250 top global leaders from business, politics, government, academia, civil society and the media.

''Strong growth in China and India, coupled with Japan's recent recovery, forces us to rethink today how the East Asian community is likely to evolve in the coming years,'' remarked WEF's Asia Director Lee Howell.

Infosys Technologies President, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Nandan M Nilekani will also co-chair for the WEF on East Asia.

The theme 'Creating a New Agenda for Asian Integration' will reflect the growing need for regional institutions to explore the viability of Asia's current growth model and to adapt to the global forces reshaping Asia's business environment in sectors such as IT, telecommunications, finance and energy.

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will host a welcoming reception for participants at the Kantei, his official residence.
