Two RJD leaders shot dead

Samastipur, Bihar, Apr 13 (UNI) Two RJD leaders were shot dead at Udahat village under Musrigharari police station area here today.

According to police, six armed criminals fired indiscriminately at the district party vice-president Akhilesh Kumar Rai and the candidate of Zila Parishad constituency number 13 when they were returning after campaigning for the panchayat elections.

Both the leaders died on the spot in the shoot-out. Reason behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.

Protesting the incident, the agitated villagers have blocked National Highway 28 paralysing traffic on Muzaffarpur-Barauni and Samastipur-Patauri roads. The agitationists also damaged some vehicles and ransacked shops.

The police administration was trying to lift the blockade.

Raids were on to nab the criminals.
