Tiwari orders magisterial probe in alleged gangrape

Dehra Dun, Apr 13 (UNI) Ordering a magisterial probe into the alleged gang rape of one of the women agitating against liquor shops at Gangolihaat in Pithoragarh district, Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari has announced financial aid of Rs 2.5 lakh for the alleged victim.

The victim, participating in dharna against liquor shops with several other women in front of a shop since April 4, was allegedly raped by unidentified masked men on Tuesday night when she went out to answer nature's call.

She was later found unconscious by her colleagues and admitted to hospital.

Mr Tiwari has asked the area MLA to provide full report on the incident and has sought stringent action against the culprits from the administration.

According to police sources, a case has been filed but no arrests made so far.

Medical report of the victim is awaited.
