Shun AIADMK, DMK: Vijayakanth

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 13: Popular Actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) Founder Vijayakanth appealed to the people to 'shun the DMK and AIADMK for their misrule' and elect a party with 'a new line of thinking and principles.' Addressing a public meeting here late last night, Mr Vijayakanth charged the Dravidian parties with failure to keep up promises made to the people.

Proclaiming his party's election promises to be genuine and practical to implement 'unlike those made by other parties,' he promised to work for alleviation of the sufferings of the rural masses and development of rural areas.

If the people failed to elect his party, genuine leaders willing to work for the masses will hesitate to enter the policital arena in the future.

Appealing to voters to give a chace to youth, the actor-turned politician told the gathering he entered political arena only to serve the people.

'' That is why I have not struck a deal with any party. Had I wished, I could have struck an alliance with some party and easily got suitcases of money and 15 seats,'' he added.
