Salman released on bail
Jodhpur, Apr 13 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to filmstar Salman Khan in the Chinkara killing case and suspended his five-year sentence.
The court also ordered Salman to deposit two bail amounts of Rs 1 lakh each and a surety of Rs 2 lakh apart from the penalty amount of Rs 25,000. The decision came after the court completed its hearings on the actor's appeal against a lower court verdict today.
Magistrate Goverdhan Singh Surana listened to Salman's defence counsel Hastimal Saraswat who was supported by Dipesh Mehta from Mumbai and S R Bajwa from Jaipur.
The court also fixed June 19 as the date for next hearing on Salman's appeal in the black buck poaching case, where he was sentenced to one-year jail term and fined Rs 5000 on February 17.
Film actors Govinda, director David dhawan, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Salman's brother Sohail, sister Alvira and girlfriend Katrina Kaif were present during the hearings in the court.
Salman spent three days in the jail after he was awarded a five-year sentence and a penalty of Rs 25,000 for killing a Chinkara on Sept 27-28, 1998, in Ghodha Farm in Mathania region.
