Prof. Eachara Warriar passes away

Thrissur, Apr 13 (UNI) Prof. T V Eachara Warriar, who waged a heroic battle to bring to the book the killers of his son Rajan, a student of the Calicut Regional Engineering College who died at the hands of the police during the Emergency, passed away in a private hospital here this morning.

He was 85. He is survived by his two daughters Ramadevi and Chandini.

The funeral will take place later this evening at his ancestral house at Thiruvullakkavu, in Cherpu near here.

Prof. Warriar was under treatement for lung disease and admitted to the hospital a few days ago.

Many persons including State Assembly Speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan and Thrissur Mayor R Bindu paid homage to Prof. Warriar when his body was placed for public homage at his apartment at the Sakthanthamburan Nagar here, before being taken to Cherpu for the funeral.

Prof. Warriar had served as a teacher at St. Thomas College, Thrissur, Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, and Chittoor Govt. College.

He was an active worker of Kochi Praja Mandalam and later an associate of the Left wing.
