Prof Eachara Warriar passes away

Thrissur, Apr 13 (UNI) Prof T V Eachara Warriar, noted for waging a tragic battle to bring to book the killers of his son Rajan, a student of Calicut Regional Engineering College who died during the Emergency, allegedly at the hands of the police, passed away in a private hospital here this morning.

He was 85.

He is survived by his two daughters Ramadevi and Chandini.

The funeral will take place later this evening at his ancestral house at Thiruvullakkavu, in Cherpu, near here.

Prof Warriar, undergoing treatment for lung disease, was admitted to hospital a few days ago.

Many people including Kerala Speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan and Thrissur Mayor R Bindu paid homage to the late Prof when his body was placed for public homage at his apartment at Sakthanthamburan Nagar here, before being taken to Cherpu for the funeral.

Prof Warriar, served as a teacher at St Thomas College, Thrissur, Maharaja's College, Ernakulam, and Chittoor Government College. He was an active worker of the Kochi Praja Mandalam and later an associate of the Left wing.
