Nagas should come on single platform for peace:Jamir
Kohima, Apr 13 (UNI) Goa Governor S C Jamir today said that Nagas should strive to bring their brethren on one platform to create a congenial atmosphere to solve their problems.
The former Nagaland chief minister, presently visiting his home state, was addressing as the chief guest of the two-day Tangnyinn Aoyea festival of the Konyak Naga tribe at a remote village. It is in Mon district on the international border with Myanmar.
''India can offer many things to the Nagas, but cannot offer peace, which should come from the mind and souls of every Naga,'' Mr Jamir said.
''Mother India is inviting all of you to come. So Nagas must come with one mind,'' he added while referring to the ongoing peace process of the Indo-Naga political problem.
Official sources said on the historic occasion of the Aoyea festival Konyak Nagas from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar arrived in large numbers in search of their lost brothers. Anghs(kings) from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar also met each other.
The festival began yesterday.
