Miandad quashes rumours of being at Karachi blast site
Lahore, Apr 13 (UNI) Scotching rumours that he was present at the site of Tuesday's bomb blasts in Karachi, which killed 57 people, former cricketer Javed Miandad said he was taken by surprise when family and friends flooded him with calls enquiring about his well being.
The blast took place at a congregation organised to celebrate Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Mustafa's birth and rumours spread that Miandad was present at the site.
''So many people called me up on my cell numbers and some even at my home wanting to know if I was okay and safe. At first, I just didn't know what was happening,'' Miandad was quoted by the ''the News'' as saying.
''No one should ever be hit by such a tragedy. But whoever spread this rumour about me being at the site of the bomb blast caused me, my friends, fans and family a lot of anguish and tension for over an hour,'' he added.
