JD(U) mlas demand 'breach of privilege' motion against DM, SP
Patna, Apr 13 (UNI) JD(U) Mla Poonam Devi today urged Bihar assembly speaker Uday Narain Choudhary to initiate proceeding against the District Magistrate and the Police superintendent of Khagaria for alleged violating her privilege rights.
In a letter sent to the speaker, Ms Poonam alleged that District Magistrate Mayank Barbare and Police Superintendent K S Anupam allegedly misbehaved and passed derogatory remarks against her when she had gone to Khagaria jail to inquire about the health of her incarcerated husband and former MLA Ranvir Yadav.
She said during the assembly session on April 3, she received information that her husband was having chest pain following which she rushed to Khagaria. When she arrived inside the premises of the the jail and was inquring about the health of her husband from jail staff, both the district magistrate and police superintendent reached the spot and charged her of violating rules and regulations incorporated in the jail manual.
Ms. Devi alleged that the officers seized her car and she had to move on foot for two kilometers. She denied having viloated the rules of jail and said that if it was a prohibited zone, she should have been stopped by the jail staff present on the duty.
She said that an FIR was also filed implicating her falsely in the matter. Charges levelled against her in the FIR that she arrived the jail with her 50 supporters were also completely false, she claimed contending that she had gone alone with the sole purpose of inquiring about the health of her husband.
