Governor, CM greet people on new year
Chennai, Apr 13 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various political parties today greeted the people on the eve of Tamil New Year.
''Let the dawn of Tamil New Year 'Viya' usher in peace, prosperity and allround development in the state and contribute to the growth of the nation,'' Mr Barnala said in a message here.
He also extended greetings and wishes to Malayalees on the eve of 'Vishu.' In her message, Ms Jayalalithaa said 'let the hearts and homes of Tamils be filled with happiness in the new year. I extend my wishes not only to the Tamils in the state but also to those living across the globe.'' She also greeted Malayalees on the eve of 'Vishu.' The Malayalees, irrespective of the place they dwell, always preserve and follow rich traditions, she said adding ''let the new year mutiply happiness.'' Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President M Krishnasamy, Union Minister G K Vasan and BJP Leader and Former Union Minister S Thirunavukkarasar conveyed their good wishes to the people.
