France: Military strike against Iran 'not topical'

Paris, Apr 13: French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy today dismissed talk of the possibility of military strikes against Iran over its nuclear programme.

''This is absolutely not topical,'' he said in an interview with RTL radio when asked about the likelihood of military strikes. ''We have always been in favour of a negotiated solution.'' President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday Iran had enriched uranium for the first time and would press ahead with industrial-scale enrichment, keeping the country on a collision course with the United Nations.
