Curfew relaxed in Aligarh in phased manner
Lucknow, Apr 13 (UNI) Curfew in five police station areas of riot hit Aligarh town of Uttar Pradesh was relaxed in a phased manner today.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Padman Singh said here that curfew was relaxed in phases from 0900 hrs in the five police station areas -- Banna Devi, Sasni Gate, Delhi Gate, Gandhi Park and Kotwali.
No untoward incident was reported from any of the five areas, during the curfew relaxation period, Mr Singh said, adding that increase in period of relaxaition was being contemplated.
The ADG said last night a man was stabbed by assailants in the Delhi Gate area, but the incident was not connected to communal violance.
''It was suspected to be committed for looting the man,'' he maintained.
The communal riots in Aligarh on April Six last had resulted in loss of eight lives and 275 persons have so far been arrested for the flare up.
