Cong open to alliance with any party except BJP: Priyaranjan

Kishangunj, Apr 13 (UNI) Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said the Congress was open to form an alliance with any party except BJP to dislodge the Left Front government in West Bengal.

Mr Dasmunsi was on his way to Sahpur in adjoining Goalphkher Assembly constituency from where his wife Deepa Dasmunsi is contesting the Assembly polls.

Talking to newsmen at Kishanganj, he claimed that the Congress was far better equipped and prepared to take the electoral challenge this time.

Asked how he proposed to take on the Left in West Bengal when they continued to support the UPA Government at the Centre, the Minister said there were several instances when political parties fought at the state level, despite of supporting each other at the Centre.

Mr Dasmunsi described the Meerut incident as ''most unfortunate'' and castigated the Uttar Pradesh government for its alleged failure to prevent the tragedy.
