CBI seeks to close 40-yr-old case against German national

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) CBI today sought permission to close a 40-year-old corruption case against a German national, saying country's rules do not allow its citizen to be to extradited to another country for trial.

CBI sought closure of the case saying it was impossible to get Rauschen Dictor from Germany and hence the matter should be dropped.

The invesgative agency had registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in September 1966 and filed a chargesheet in June 1971.

Dictor was charged of accepting bribe while working for an electronic firm.

He, however, managed to leave India in February 1971 and never returned, even after been declared Proclaimed Offender and the CBI and the Interpol issuing notice against him.
