Bihar-Jharkhand RSS functionary escapes from captivity

Etah, Apr 13 (UNI) A top RSS functionary from Bihar-Jharkhand, kidnapped from Agra on April 10, has escaped from the clutches of the captors in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police today said.

Senior Police Superintendent Rajesh Kumar Rai said here that Sanskar Bharti (SB) chief of Bihar and Jharkhand Abhijit Kashyap, who was kidnapped from Agra, while on way to Tundla railway station, escaped captivity and reached the Nidhaunikalan police station here yesterday.

Later as per inputs given by Mr Kashyap, the police raided a public health centre in the district, from where belongings of the RSS leader were recovered. However, the police failed to get hold of the captors.

The Sanskar Bharti leader, who is also a Patna-based businessman, later told the police that he was going to Tundla to catch a train back to Bihar, after attending a three-day SB national convention.

Unidentified persons asked for lift in his Indica car he was travelling in. Later they blindfolded him and took him captive to a secluded spot, he added.

He, however, managed to escape yesterday afternoon.

The SB leader is considered close to Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi.

Further investigations were on.
