Three persons' head shaved partially on charge of sorcery

Medak, Apr 12 (UNI) Three people including a woman's head was partially shaved by angry villagers on the charge of practising sorcery in Kanukunta village of Ginnaram mandal of Medak district today.

Krishna (35) of Kanukunta village, was suffering from ill health for the past four days. Last night he ran out of the house shouting and went to the outskirts of the village. His relatives and family members also followed him, according to police.

The relatives noticed three persons Lakshminarayana, Shankaraiah and Yellamma performing pooja near a snake's mole hill under a tree.

The relatives of Krishna suspected that the three were peforming sorcery on Krishna. In a fit of anger they tied them to a tree and assaulted them. Later, the three were locked in a room all night, the police said.

According to sources, they were made to drink urine. Later, their heads were tonsured partially and when they were about to be taken around on a donkey in the village, the police arrived and rescued them.

The police picked up some of the villagers who misbehaved with the three persons and sent Krishna, who was ill, to a local hospital.

The police registered a case and are investigating it.

Toopran Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Reddy visited the spot and took stock of the situation. He also counselled the villagers not to resort to violence.
