Space age: INSAT 4C launch in July, says Madhavan Nair

Chennai, Apr 12 (UNI) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch INSAT 4C, the latest in the INSAT series, in July.

Disclosing this to newsmen, ISRO Chief G Madhavan Nair said the satellite will be put into orbit by the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-5 (GSLV), to be launched from ISRO's Sriharikota facility.

The satellite will be used for broadcasting 150 television channels through the Direct to Home platform. The INSAT-4C launch will be followed by the CARTOSAT in September, this year.

CARTOSAT, the state-of-the-art remote sensing satellite to be also launched from the Sriharikota facility will be useful for large-scale mapping and planning of natural resources, he said.

Earlier, addressing students and professors of the RMK Engineering College, near here, Dr Nair urged students to develop technology for the betterment of the society.

He said the EDUSAT and the telemedicine facility provided by ISRO, had benefited students and about 150 hospitals and 32 super speciality hospitals in providing quality healthcare across the country.
