Sensitive poll booths identified in TN dist: Collector

Kancheepuram, Apr 12 (UNI) Adequate security arrangements will be made at 479 polling booths in the district which have been identified as 'sensitive,' Kancheepuram Collector R Venkatesan today said.

Speaking to newspersons here Mr Venkatesan said about 2,870 polling booths will be set up in the district of which 479 have been identified as 'sensitive.' Election officials have been appointed for the nine Assembly constituencies coming under the district.Tambaram will have 895 polling booths the highest in the district, while Acharapakkam will have the least with 166 booths.

The district has achieved a coverage of 67.44 per cent in the issuance of voter identity cards.

Work on isssuing the cards will end by the end of the month, he said adding people could drop their suggestions in the box kept at the Collector's office.
