Rajkumar's death: Violence erupts in Bangalore
Bangalore, Apr 12 (UNI) Violence was reported in many parts of the city as the news spread about the demise of Kannada matinee idol and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Rajkumar.
Fans indulged in stone pelting to force business establishments to down their shutters. Autorickshaws refused to ply, fearing attack by the celebrated actor's fans. Tyres were burnt on streets, obstructing vehicular movement.
In many streets, fans kept a portrait of Rajkumar and paid respects to him by garlanding it.
Near his Sadashivnagar residence, fans were seen occupying vantage positions, also atop surrounding buildings, to get a glimpse of their idol. Those who were denied entry into the house were seen arguing with the police.
Police had a tough time in controlling his mourning fans and had to resort to lathi charge.
